2013 Wichita Meltdown, Sunday Feb. 17
C Tier Event sanctioned by PDGA and KDGA
And Don't Miss out on the Flx Start Doubles Tournament warm up event! Full details on the flyers below.

We had 72 players in attendance for our 24th annual Wichita Ice Bowl. Not even
a hint of winter, but quite an enjoyable day. About 50 degrees when we started and it warmed up to 70 degrees for a high! The wind was reported at 24mph gusting 41 mph, but it didn’t feel nearly that intense on the course thanks to all the trees. Luckily most of the long holes were going with the wind direction. The wind made for some interesting shots, but all in all a great day to be disc golfing!
I want to offer my sincere thanks, which is due to all the volunteers that helped make this event another huge success. I want to thank Jerry Sherwood, Jehramy Heckman, and the others who got baskets on & off the course without incident. And thanks for pulling all the flags. Thanks to everyone who brought baskets. Thanks to Bob Decker, Adam Hartley, and Jeff Laha, who helped with registration & pay-outs. Thanks to those who helped with the scorecards. Thanks to those who donated CTP and raffle prizes, including Crispin Carrasco and Chris Smith. Thanks are especially due to all the ladies who served us all and cleaned up after us. Didi Schoenhofer, Pam Paulson, Kenni, and Mellisa: thank you! Thanks to Steve Volbruck for the prizes he gave each of them. Thanks to all who brought food for the potluck. I tried 3 chilis this year: Russ’s, Pam’s, and Didi’s. They all get top marks; it would be hard to pick the best. Russ’s was HOT but good!
Thanks are due to our sponsors. Mark Wilson getting Freddy's Frozen Custard on board was a huge help. Please thank them for sponsoring when you go to use your meal voucher. Thanks also to Mark for receiving sponsorship from US Tool Grinding. Great job and I hope others consider asking for sponsorship next year. Fox and Hound again gave us a Party Card for the event. Our biggest “sponsor” this year was Buddy Kassner, who wrote a $400 check to the food bank! Thanks, Buddy! Bob with Heibert & Decker CPA's gave $100 donation yet again and Bob helped with many preparations this year and every year. The single biggest source for our donation comes from everyone who purchase raffle tickets. The best part of the raffle was when Bob, who is notorious for winning the grand prize, won the Innova Traveler, and then gave it back to be raffled to another winner!
I’ll try to post all the results soon and we’ll be working on figuring up the official donation amount. I will let everyone know as soon as I can, but it looks like it was no doubt another very successful year! Thanks to everyone for coming, and being so generous to the cause of feeding the hungry. The best part of this event is you all, coming together in the name of helping those in need. That’s awesome to be a part of! Congrats to all the winners; I hope everyone had fun. And I hope to see everyone back again next year.

The 24th Annual Ice Bowl is this Sunday! Jan. 27th, 2013!!
It's always fun and it's for a good cause, the Kansas Food Bank.

The Ice Bowl is coming up in just under 2 weeks. Sunday before the Super Bowl as always.
Last year we raised a record $3350 for the Kansas Food Bank and were among the top 15 Ice Bowl donation efforts world wide.
This year, to help this event shape up to be the best it can be, we are looking for the following:
*Portable baskets. Still need a few more.
*Food for the potluck. 75+ people likely to attend. We definitely need more people to bring food.
*Donations for raffle prizes. All mulligan sales earn the purchaser a raffle ticket. We have some baskets and some discs we are giving away this year. Let's boost our sales with more raffle prizes!
*Donations for the food bank. If you would like to deduct these on your taxes, please make checks payable to Kansas Food Bank.
*Any and all sponsorship. Every bit of sponsorship will either go direct to (cash) or will kick money up to (vouchers or merch) the Kansas Food Bank. Our total donation can be so much more significant with the help of sponsors. Let me know if I can help.
*Anyone who would like to help with getting baskets on/off the course, help with preparing food while players are on the course, help us with setting up inside, or any other help with the event. Please let me know if you can help with any of the prior items if you have not already. Thanks!
Detailed information is also posted below. You can download a full color flyer with a right click here.
Please spread the word. It will be a great time! Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks to everyone who attended the annual meeting Saturday, Jan. 12. We had a record meeting attendance, which was really good for a cold Jan day. 24 votes was needed for a quorum. We received 3 proxy ballots and 25 votes in person. The uncontested candidates were all voted in, all of whom are re-serving from 2012. Here is your 2013 board:
President: Michael Schoenhofer
Vice President: Bill Paulson
Secretary: Taylor Camp
Treasurer: Bob Decker
Parks Liaison: Russ Trice
Events Coordinator: Mike Speer
Communications Director: Jerry Sherwood
Our next board meeting is currently scheduled for Feb 21th, 6pm, Water Center. This still needs to be confirmed, stay tuned for further communications. All are welcome to attend the meetings and give feedback. And you can always email your board members with questions / comments and they will be discussed.
I hope Saturday's meeting was informative for you. Thanks again for supporting the ACDGC,
Mike Schoenhofer
Michael Schoenhofer ACDGC President:
I just wanted to mention a couple of things about our annual meeting this Saturday Jan 12th. First, only "qualified members are allowed to vote. As defined in the ACDGC by-laws, "qualified member" means a 2012 member and / or a 2013 member that signed up at the membership drive Oct. 11, 2012 (not later). I think everyone that is going to should be a qualified member, but if you ever want to know your status, just let me know and I'll look you up.
Proxy ballots were not handed out at league Sunday. If you received on via email please help spread the word and the ballots to those without electronic means of communication, which is about half our membership. If these ballots cannot be emailed, they can be brought to the meeting and dropped off if you cannot stay for the election.
We'll have lunch right at or just before 1pm in the WATER center at Herman Hill park. The meeting will follow.
Also, the ACDGC has bought bag tags for the 2013 members. We'll be drawing for the lowest numbered tags at the meeting, so make sure you make it out. If you aren't a 2013 member, sign up and you can get your bag tag.
Please attend the meeting or show up to turn in your proxy ballot. Our membership overlap is 116 members strong, higher than ever before. As mentioned previously, we need a 20% quorum for a legally binding vote. As always, thanks for your membership and support, and I hope to see you Saturday.

We are going to have another workday this Sat, Dec 22, at Colwich. We will be doing a little bit of work on 6 tee area, 11 tee area and digging holes to install 6 and 13. We will start at 9am but Bill Paulson will be there around 8 am to get started.
again, here is a google map link to help you find the course, in case you have not been there, or don't remember how to get there:

There will be a workday weekend at Colwich Dec 8th & 9th.
UPDATE:
Thanks to all who showed up on Saturday! Thanks to all their hard work what was planned for two days got done in one!! Holes 6 and 13 are now ready to install. Good thing too; the weather today (Sunday) has taken a turn and the wind and cold would likely cancel plans for today. Now, they've been called off cause the job was completed!

The plan is to get some more fairways cleared and progress to an 18 hole wooded course with 2x tees and 2x pins. If you haven't been out there in the last year, you should go check out the new layout. By Bill's effort with this new design and those who have helped make it happen, we were able to keep the disc golf course in Colwich.
Please come out and help, even if you only have a couple of hours. Every bit makes a big difference. There will be hot dogs and chips. Please bring your own beverage. And bring gloves for handling brush. Work will start by 9am. Hope to see you there,
For those of you who don't know, or remember how to get to the course, here is a link to a google map that will help.
